Baleigh Garcia: Michigan State’s Steady Leader on the Beam
Few gymnasts have embodied consistency and leadership for Michigan State quite like Baleigh Garcia. The Boynton Beach, Florida native has been a key part of the Spartans’ rise into one of the top programs in the Big Ten, combining strong performances with a calm presence under pressure.
Garcia arrived at Michigan State after an impressive Level 10 career at American Twisters Gymnastics Club, where she developed into a polished and versatile athlete. Her impact was immediate, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after a standout collegiate debut that included an all-around victory and a beam title.
Beam has become Garcia’s signature event. Known for her elegant style and consistency, she recorded career-high scores of 9.950 and captured the 2024 Big Ten beam championship, becoming Michigan State’s first conference champion on the event since 1996. Her performances helped lead the Spartans to a historic Big Ten title and another NCAA Regional appearance.
Beyond the scores, Garcia’s leadership has been equally valuable. A multiple-time team captain, Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and respected veteran, she has helped build a culture of confidence and success in East Lansing.
