Sophie Swartzmiller of Minnesota Gymnastics

University of Minnesota junior Sophie Swartzmiller has steadily developed into one of the Gophers’ most exciting floor performers. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Swartzmiller arrived in Minneapolis after an outstanding Level 10 career at Salto Gymnastics, where she captured the 2022 Wisconsin State all-around championship and qualified for the Level 10 National Championships twice.


Since joining the Gophers, Swartzmiller has combined athletic talent with academic excellence. She has earned multiple Academic All-Big Ten honors and has also been recognized as a WCGA Scholastic All-American, highlighting her commitment both in the classroom and in competition.


The 2026 season has marked a major breakthrough. Swartzmiller has become a consistent contributor in Minnesota’s floor lineup, earning her first collegiate event title early in the season before posting several impressive scores. Her campaign reached another level when she recorded a career-best 9.950 on floor exercise at the Big Ten Championships, earning a place on the Big Ten All-Championships Team. She continued that momentum into NCAA Regional competition with another strong performance.


Majoring in Business Marketing Education, Swartzmiller represents the complete student-athlete. Her powerful tumbling, polished choreography, and dependable performances have made her an important part of Minnesota’s success.


With another season of collegiate gymnastics still ahead, Gophers fans have every reason to be excited. If her progression continues, Sophie Swartzmiller looks poised to become one of the Big Ten’s standout floor specialists
