Karleigh DiCello: Building Her Own Legacy at West Virginia
When gymnastics fans hear the name DiCello, many immediately think of elite competition. But at West Virginia, Karleigh DiCello is proving that her story deserves to be celebrated on its own.
A native of Boyds, Maryland, DiCello arrived in Morgantown after an impressive Level 10 career at Hill’s Gymnastics. She qualified to the Development Program National Championships three times and closed out her club career with a series of outstanding performances. In 2023, she earned top-five finishes on every event at the Region 7 Championships before placing first in the all-around and on floor exercise at the Maryland State Championships. She also finished inside the top 10 on uneven bars and inside the top 15 in both the all-around and floor at the Development Program National Championships.
Her transition to NCAA gymnastics couldn’t have gone much better. As a freshman in 2025, DiCello competed in every regular-season meet on both vault and balance beam, quickly becoming one of West Virginia’s most dependable performers. She collected 11 podium finishes, including six event victories, and capped off the season by qualifying to the NCAA Regionals as an individual on both vault and balance beam. Her efforts also earned her a place on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.
DiCello’s gymnastics is built on consistency and composure. She posted career highs of 9.900 on vault and 9.925 on balance beam, showing she has the ability to deliver under pressure when the Mountaineers need a big score. Whether she’s sticking a dynamic vault or confidently attacking the balance beam, she brings a calm confidence that has made her a key part of West Virginia’s lineup.
Now entering her sophomore season, expectations are high. After such an impressive freshman campaign, DiCello has already been recognised as one of the Big 12’s top vaulters with a spot on the conference’s Preseason Vault Team. As West Virginia continues to climb the conference standings, she looks set to remain one of the Mountaineers’ most reliable competitors.
Karleigh DiCello may share a famous gymnastics surname, but she’s writing her own chapter in NCAA gymnastics. If her freshman season is any indication, Mountaineer fans have plenty to be excited about as her collegiate career continues to unfold.
